This white wine glass was introduced in 1989 with the hand-blown HR 1 series. The idea for this design comes from Hardy Rodenstock, a famous wine collector and expert (Wine Spectator 15.12.1988 called him: The world's most extravagant wine collector).
In many internationally attended tastings, experts have found that this glass shape is unrivaled in the tasting of sweet wines, especially great Sauternes. For this reason, Riedel decided to include this perfect glass in the Sommeliers series.
The distinctive design conveys the aroma reminiscent of apricots and biscuits of the wine made from noble rot grapes. On the palate, the fruit acidity of the sweet wine is enhanced to create taste harmony. The finish is not cloyingly sweet, but a unique combination of strength and sweetness.
