The English wine magazine Decanter described this glass as the finest Burgundy glass of all times, suitable for both young and old burgundies.
Another unusual accolade for this unique shape from 1957 is the fact that the Museum of Modern Art (N.Y.) showcases this glass in its permanent exhibition.
Mockers have also referred to this beautiful monster as a goldfish bowl, because as a drinking vessel with a capacity of over 1000 cc, it is unique. (Please note, never pour more than 150 ml.)
Small wines are not well treated in this glass, their little expression is completely lost here. On the other hand, big wines flourish and are able to show their finest aromas in an unprecedented abundance and intensity. Red grape varieties with thin skins produce less color-intensive wines with acidity that can detract from the drinking pleasure.
However, this glass shape integrates the acidity into the fruit. The wine flows from this delicately lipped shape sharply onto the tongue, thus enhancing the taste of the fruit and the sweet-tasting components. This creates an exciting fruit-acid interplay on the palate that harmoniously rounds off the wine's flavor profile.
