Riedel Glasses

Riedel | The Wine Glass Company

The history of the glass brand Riedel dates back to 1756. Today, the name Riedel stands for high-quality drinking glasses and associated table culture. The Tyrolean glassworks is based in Kufstein and has been part of Riedel Glass Works since 2004, along with Spiegelau and Nachtmann.

Riedel Crystal Glass has made a name for itself internationally, especially among wine connoisseurs. The glass series »Vinum« and »Sommeliers« are particularly well-known. Both collections were developed by Georg J. Riedel, following the design principle that the content determines the form. For each common grape variety, there is a suitable glass that brings out the special characteristics and aromas of the wine excellently. Maximilian Riedel, the son of Georg J. Riedel, leads the company in the 11th generation. He designed the innovative »O« series – stemless wine glasses that reinterpret the original form of the wine cup. Also by Maximilian Riedel are the spectacular decanters »Eve« and »Mamba«, which impress with their unique shape and high functionality.

In addition to wine glasses and decanters, the Riedel range also includes a Bar Collection. Here, the traditional brand demonstrates its expertise in spirits and long drinks. This includes classic tumblers for whiskey and gin, jugs, carafes, and special glasses for cocktails like Martini & Co.

And to perfectly round off the wine enjoyment, Riedel offers eye-catching and functional decanters that match any glass series.

A philosophy with tradition

The globally successful company Riedel follows a philosophy for special glasses: the content determines the shape of the glass. This makes it possible for the glass design to adapt to the wine with its properties. A key quality feature of Riedel glasses is the fact that the glass wall is very thin while maintaining high stability. And this for a simple reason: if the wine glass has a thin glass wall, the recommended drinking temperature of the wine is directly experienced.
