Zwiesel Glass | Decanters

Many wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs swear by transferring certain types and vintages of wine into a carafe or decanter before drinking. This results in the two technical terms carafing and decanting. Carafing refers to the process that helps the wine to have better contact with oxygen. Transferring into a often bulbous carafe allows the wine to breathe better. Decanting separates the wine from settled solids like tartar or the so-called depot. Since both advantages of transferring can occur in one step, they are often colloquially summarized under the term decanting.

Whether decanting or carafing or both – in any case, a noble drop should also be transferred into a noble vessel. The decanters from Zwiesel Glass combine high functionality with appealing design. A perfect combination of form and function is expressed in the decanters of the collection »Air Sense«. This glass series was designed by the Swedish design duo Bernadotte & Kylberg in close collaboration with Zwiesel Glass. The distinctive design feature of »Air Sense« is the permanently integrated decanting ball located at the bottom of the drinking glasses and decanters. It is the optical highlight of the collection and supports the wine in breathing and unfolding its aromas. The crystal glass ball enlarges the surface and thus additionally supplies the wine with oxygen. The series includes a tall, slender decanter for white wines and a wider, more voluminous decanter for red wines.
