Wine Glasses

Wine glasses are now a basic item in the glass cabinet. Anyone who values a stylishly set table or enjoys entertaining guests should have at least one wine series at home. The classic wine glass is a goblet. The stem not only serves aesthetics but also prevents the warmth of the hand from affecting the contents of the glass. The bowl of white wine glasses is smaller than that of a red wine glass, as white wine is drunk chilled. The smaller volume ensures that the wine retains its fresh temperature longer and does not warm up. The red wine goblet is larger because the contact of red wine with air is desired. It is said that the wine should be able to "breathe." For wine connoisseurs and lovers, there are also plenty of special glasses, almost for every type of wine. An example is the Vinum collection by the glass brand Riedel. Here you can find glasses for Riesling, Chardonnay, Bordeaux, Syrah, and more. Another approach is taken by the glass manufacturer Zalto: the designers there have developed a glass that combines many quality features and is suitable for several types of wine – a so-called universal glass.

Champagne Glasses

The most well-known types of glasses for champagne are the flute, tulip, and coupe. The flute is more reminiscent of a trumpet than a flute, with its tall bowl and flared rim. This tall glass shape supports the typical champagne effervescence: here, the fine carbon dioxide bubbles can beautifully rise in the glass. The same applies to the tulip: it also has a tall bowl, but its opening narrows. This way, less of the sparkling carbon dioxide is lost, and the bouquet is concentrated in this way. The tulip is also often used for other types of sparkling wine, such as Prosecco, Cava, and Crimean sparkling wine. The coupe has the shape of a flat bowl, as its name suggests. In the 60s and 70s, this type of glass was considered chic. Today, the coupe is enjoying increasing popularity again. It is also perfect for serving small fine portions of dessert, ice cream, or fruit.

Champagne Glasses

Great moments are often celebrated with a glass of fine champagne. There are many occasions that want to be duly appreciated. For the exclusive drink champagne, there are extra glasses that bring out the taste and aroma best. The characteristic champagne glass has a tall bowl on a long stem. The glass is held only by the stem – this prevents the warming of the glass contents by the temperature of the hand. The tall bowl allows for a fine perlage, meaning the desired formation of carbon dioxide bubbles. True connoisseurs prefer a champagne glass with a narrow opening: this way, the carbon dioxide is preserved in the drink as long as possible, and the glass shape concentrates the incomparable aromas of the champagne.

Beer Glasses

Beer is a drink with a very long tradition. Today, there are countless types of beer worldwide: classics are "Helles," lager, wheat beer, or pilsner, internationally known are stout and porter, and there are also varieties from the craft beer movement like India Pale Ale. No matter which beer you prefer: at Porzellantreff, you will find the right glass for it. The special glass shape supports the particular taste and allows the aromas of the beer variety to unfold. Here in the online shop, we have put together a large selection of glasses and mugs from our top brands: beer tulips, wheat beer glasses, beer mugs, beer steins – with and without lids – made of glass and ceramic, and special glasses for beers like IPA and dark beer.

Whiskey Glasses

The choice of the right whiskey glass depends on whether you want to drink your whiskey with or without ice. For the "with ice" variant, the classic tumbler is suitable, a whiskey glass with a straight shape, thicker bottom, and sufficient capacity. For those who enjoy whiskey neat, a so-called nosing glass is the first choice. The bulbous glass, which narrows towards the top, allows the delicious aromas to gather and concentrate in the glass. This way, they can be best perceived through the nose, hence the name (English Nose = nose). These glasses also often have a sufficiently long stem to prevent the warmth of the hand from affecting the temperature of the contents. At Porzellantreff, you will find a large assortment of different whiskey glass shapes. Practical are the multi-part sets, sometimes with a matching whiskey carafe.

Cocktail Glasses

A cocktail is generally understood to be an alcoholic mixed drink. There are incredibly many recipes and types of cocktails. Some have become classics and are internationally known and loved. These include Martini, Caipirinha, Mojito, Hugo, Spritz (or Sprizz), and Gin Tonic, to name just a few. Hugo and Spritz are served in long-stemmed goblets, Martini is drunk from a very special Martini glass. Bar cocktails like a Sidecar or a Gimlet come into their own in a sophisticated cocktail coupe.

Glasses for Spirits

A typical shot glass is the stamper, also called "Stamperl" in Bavaria. Its shape is often based on other glasses – it is available as a small jug, a small version of a tumbler, or a simple shot glass. For some types of schnapps, there are individual glasses, for example, for grappa and fruit brandies. Liqueurs are enjoyed from liqueur glasses or liqueur bowls. Especially with spirits, it strongly depends on personal taste which glass you choose.

Buffet Glasses for Finger Food

Finger food glasses are very trendy at buffets. They offer the opportunity to serve small portions attractively. In a glass, the various ingredients of the recipe can be layered visibly – this way, appetizers can be arranged and decorated in an attention-grabbing way. Imaginatively designed buffet glasses are often real eye-catchers, whether with savory or sweet content. Even at home, great effects can be created with these glasses. Serve an amuse-bouche, a mini salad, or sorbet in a glass, and your guests will be delighted.
