Zalto Glasses »Denk'Art«

The brand Zalto stands for glass perfection. For tradition and innovation in drinking culture. The glasses from the Austrian Waldviertel manufactory are mouth-blown and handcrafted using age-old techniques. This creates true masterpieces, like the series »Denk‘Art«. Each glass is unique, yet due to the high skill and long experience of the glassblowers, one glass in a series matches the other down to the last detail. This is true glassmaking art.

The characteristic feature of these glasses is their extreme thinness. Such a delicate glass appeals to all the senses: it has a fascinating aesthetic appearance, feels fantastic, and sounds particularly beautiful. This interplay makes drinking from a Zalto glass a special experience.

Despite their delicate design, Denk‘Art glasses are suitable for everyday use and dishwasher safe. The collection includes various wine glasses: a white wine glass, a Bordeaux glass, a Burgundy glass, a so-called universal glass, and also glasses for champagne, beer, and digestifs, as well as tumbler glasses for water and wine. Professional decanters and variously sized carafes are also available.

The name »Denk‘Art-Glass« comes from the mentor of the glass series, the wine ambassador Hans Denk from Austria. More on this at the end of this page.

Denk‘Art glasses by the brand Zalto are probably among the best drinking glasses available. The development of these glasses incorporated the extensive knowledge of the pastor and wine ambassador Hans Denk. The legendary wine pastor from the Waldviertel region, as he was called, influenced the Austrian wine scene like few others. His vast knowledge and the incredible sensory perception he possessed made him an exceptional expert when it came to enjoying wine.

In the development of the »Denk‘Art« collection, the designers at Zalto also incorporated a »cosmic phenomenon«, as they call it. In the design of the glass, angles were used that correspond to the tilt angles of our earth. According to tradition, the ancient Romans had already discovered that angles of 24°, 48°, and 72° in the manufacture of storage containers brought extraordinary properties: food not only stayed fresh longer, but also tasted significantly better. Perhaps this phenomenon is the reason why wine, drunk from Denk‘Art glasses, can unfold optimally in the nose and on the palate. The thinness of the glasses also contributes to this. It ensures that the lips are more pursed when drinking than with other glasses. This directs the wine to the areas of the tongue that are important for the perception of wine aromas. The aromas are better expressed, and the wine appears more complex.
