Le Creuset | Corkscrews & Wine Accessories
The French traditional manufacturer Le Creuset is known for high-quality cookware and innovative product ideas around the kitchen & enjoyment theme. In 1992, the brand Screwpull joined the company, and since then, corkscrews, waiter's knives, and wine accessories have enriched the Le Creuset range. The history of Screwpull »wine tools« dates back to Herbert Allen, the legendary inventor from Texas, USA. Allen, who appreciated good wine, had the vision to develop the best corkscrew in the world, allowing every wine lover to uncork a bottle with ease. In 1979, Herbert Allen filed his patent – and the Screwpull was born. A corkscrew that effortlessly and gently removes even brittle or stuck corks from the bottle. Its secret is still found today in the non-stick spiral with »soul«. The corkscrew's design automatically centers the spiral in the middle of the cork. It is coated with Teflon and penetrates the bottle cork without effort. The spiral has a space in its center, the so-called soul. It prevents just drilling a hole in the cork, ensuring it doesn't remain in the bottle neck when the corkscrew is pulled out.
To this day, the legacy of the Screwpull brand, continued by Le Creuset, stands for the philosophy »form follows function« - true to its inventor's spirit. Accessories like wine pumps, wine coolers, wine pourers, and foil cutters complete the collection.
