Rosenthal studio-line »TAC 02 Weiß«
The collection »TAC« by Rosenthal, created in 1969, is one of the most successful porcelain series worldwide. »TAC« was designed by Walter Gropius, the intellectual father and director of the legendary Bauhaus. »TAC« stands for »The Architects Collaborative« - the name of Walter Gropius's Boston office. The reduced formal language, the use of a simple hemispherical shape in the pot and cup, and the play with geometric shapes such as triangles and squares are characteristic of designs that follow the Bauhaus philosophy. The design principles from this era have produced forms that are just as relevant today as they were at the time of their creation.
Walter Gropius was born in Berlin in 1883 and died in Boston in 1969. Gropius was a co-founder of the German Werkbund and the Bauhaus in Weimar and Dessau. This visionary architect significantly influenced the creative work of the 20th century. Walter Gropius quote: »Only perfect harmony in the technical purpose-function as well as in the proportions of the forms can bring forth beauty. And that makes our task so versatile and complicated.«
