Rosenthal »Maria Weiß«

Few other porcelain designs have shaped the history of table culture as sustainably as the Rosenthal »Maria« design. The porcelain service was named after Maria, the wife of the company's founder, Philipp Rosenthal. The design was inspired by a silver tea service from the early 19th century, which Privy Councillor Rosenthal brought back as a souvenir from a trip to England. In honor of Maria, the eponymous porcelain collection was created, which later became THE classic in Rosenthal's history and in the history of table porcelain: Rosenthal »Maria«.

The distinctive silhouette of the coffee pot is world-famous. The elegant shape is characterized by a polygon, a stylistic element from classicism. In addition, there are also classical and romantic influences. A characteristic feature of Rosenthal »Maria Weiß« is the delicate pomegranate relief that runs around, for example, the edge of the plate and the foot of the cup. Shortly after the market launch of the design, the »Maria« collection became the series with the most articles of the Rosenthal brand. Even today, more than seventy different porcelain items from Rosenthal »Maria Weiß« are available. This includes a wide selection of cup shapes for coffee, chocolate, and tea, as well as various plate sizes. The variety and diversity of serving items, suitable for sophisticated dining culture, are impressive. These include platters, bowls, and dishes, as well as centerpieces like cake stands, a tiered stand, and tureens and sauce boats for the festively set table.

The traditional form Rosenthal »Maria Weiß« stands alone on any table as a noble soloist. If you want to add some color, choose Rosenthal Maria »en Vogue«. In this variant, the classic is presented in three different pastel shades, all of which can be combined with white in a mix-and-match principle.
