To celebrate their 150th anniversary, the Flensburg silver manufacturer is reissuing a classic cutlery piece from their history: Robbe & Berking »Metropolitan«. This cutlery embodies the characteristic lines of the so-called Mid Century Style, a design style that shaped the period between the 1930s and 1960s in the USA and Europe. Typical of the Mid-Century style is a reduced yet sensual form language with flowing, organic lines. The »Metropolitan« cutlery by Robbe & Berking follows these iconic design principles and makes a clear statement: »Metropolitan« - The Modern Classic. A special feature is the so-called menu size of the basic pieces. Cutlery items such as knives, forks, and spoons in menu size are smaller and thus more manageable than festive table cutlery. A menu cutlery set is therefore also very suitable for daily use.
The inner values of the cutlery pieces perfectly match the tasteful exterior: The menu knife from Robbe & Berking »Metropolitan« has a balanced knife handle. Its center of gravity has been shifted backward to ensure that the blade does not touch the tablecloth when lying down. The blade, made of high-quality blade steel, is carefully inserted into the hollow handle by skilled handwork. The menu fork is also crafted with great attention to detail: the insides of the tines are hand-polished to a high gloss, giving the fork a flawless mouthfeel and perfect appearance. The same applies to the menu spoon: its bowl is processed with special care in the silversmith's shop to guarantee a sensorially pleasant feeling in the mouth.
