HORL 3 Rolling Sharpener – the Original

After the prototype HORL 1 and the development to HORL 2, the next generation of rolling sharpeners will launch in autumn 2024: The HORL 3 Rolling Sharpener features a stylish design and technical innovations. Every knife, no matter how high-quality, eventually loses its sharpness and needs resharpening. No prior knowledge of knife sharpening is necessary for using the HORL 3 Rolling Sharpener – unlike the classic version with a whetstone, which requires the right technique and some practice for a good result. The application of the HORL 3 Knife Sharpener is simple, gentle, and very effective.
The HORL 3 Knife Sharpener consists of two parts: the actual rolling sharpener and the magnetic sharpening guide. The sharpening guide fixes the knife at the ideal angle to the rolling sharpener with its extra-strong neodymium magnets. This allows it to be guided precisely and effortlessly along the knife edge. This is a crucial factor, as the correct and consistently maintained sharpening angle is decisive for successful knife sharpening.
The rolling sharpener tool has two sides: a diamond side and – depending on the model – a stainless steel or ceramic side. The fine-grained diamond disc gives the knife a smooth and sharp edge. Polishing with the stainless steel or ceramic disc then smooths the blade and removes the burr. For a perfect finish after sharpening, we recommend the original HORL leather strop made from genuine cowhide.
The HORL 3 Rolling Sharpener is available in various versions, from the basic model to the professional tool. The HORL product family also includes stylish docking stations for presenting and storing the HORL Rolling Sharpener, a storage box, various interchangeable sharpening discs, a magnifier – the HORL Magnifier – for sharpness checking, and the resharpenable HORL Scissors.
HORL Scissors
Designed to complement the HORL 3 Roll Sharpener, the Freiburg company has developed scissors that can be easily resharpened with the HORL roll sharpener. The HORL Scissors are pre-sharpened with a reproducible cross-grind and feature extremely high sharpness.
For later resharpening, the HORL Scissors can be separated into two halves with just one hand thanks to the spring-loaded quick-release. This spring-loaded quick-release ensures dynamic tension of the scissor blades when closed, making the HORL Scissors a precision tool for exact cutting tasks.
To ensure the optimal sharpening angle of 45° during the sharpening process, the support surfaces of the HORL Scissors are designed to lie at the correct angle when resharpening. Even in these details, the creative innovative thinking of the HORL brand is evident.
