Friesland Atlantis »Teetied«

»Teetied« is East Frisian Platt and means tea time. It refers to the East Frisian tea ceremony. »Teetied« is also the name of this porcelain classic from Friesland. The design is inspired by the historical straw flower pattern, also known as »Indisch Blau«. Its origins date back to the 18th century. The models for this type of decoration come from China and Japan. They were adopted and slightly modified by European porcelain manufacturers, so that over time each porcelain brand developed its own individual pattern.

»Teetied« is the perfect service for the East Frisian tea ceremony. White rock sugar, called Kluntje, is preferably placed in the cup. The hot tea is poured over it, making the sugar crackle characteristically. A small cloud of cream, called Wulkje, is then carefully added to the tea with a cream spoon. The tea is then drunk without stirring. A teaspoon is only there to place it in the cup to signal that no more tea should be poured. It is considered impolite to do this before the third cup. This should be observed when invited to »Teetied« in East Frisia.
