With a baking dish, you can gratinate and bake, but it can do so much more: flat shapes are excellent for use as breading trays. Even antipasti like Caprese, the typical Italian appetizer made of tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, or pickled vegetables can be effectively presented in it. Thanks to the raised edge, none of the delicious balsamic oil dressing is lost, and the tablecloth or tabletop remains clean. Very beautiful on buffets are tart forms with their characteristically wavy edge. Higher baking dishes are suitable for marinating meat, fish, and vegetables. In the variant with a lid, the baking dish can hygienically and insect-proof store the grill food at the grill site until it comes onto the grill. And a long oval shape is the perfect serving dish for a whole fish like dorado, trout, or sea bass.

We have found: THE only right baking dish does not exist. It depends on WHAT you want to prepare for HOW MANY people. Lasagna, for example, can be authentically staged like at the Italian restaurant if you use small portion forms and each guest receives their own lasagna dish. A potato gratin for the whole family traditionally comes to the table in a large XXL form. With many different small molds, snacks like olives and caper berries or dip sauces can be casually decorated. Imagination knows no bounds, because the baking dish is far too valuable just for casseroles, even if it is named after them.

Ovenproof forms can even be used in the refrigerator and – as a rule – in the freezer. Some caution is advised here, as porcelain and ceramic forms should not be exposed to large temperature differences suddenly or locally. This can lead to damage. So please DO NOT place the hot form from the oven on a cold wet cloth. Here, the temperature shock can lead to cracks, and the form would be unusable. Therefore, always choose moderate temperature changes. From the oven to the table, then cooled from the table to the refrigerator or freezer, and from there slowly reheat. With this careful use, you will enjoy your baking dish for a long time.
