Rosenthal »TAC Glitch«

Sometimes it really takes a second look. What is seen may not be immediately apparent. This is exactly the case with the porcelain collection Rosenthal »TAC Glitch«. The decor »Glitch« on Walter Gropius’ iconic form »TAC« initially gives the impression that this look was not intended. The geometric patterns, the golden lines, the Art Deco elements – everything seems misplaced, shifted, not right. This is where the name comes from: »Glitch«. In German, Glitch means "minor disturbance". Even more clearly, the term is used in the gaming world: In computer game jargon, a glitch is a graphic error that causes objects to be displayed incorrectly.

A bold decor design by Italian industrial designer Tommasso Guerra. Top brands like Rosenthal are usually characterized by the fact that all decors, patterns, and motifs are individually adapted to each item and are precisely positioned on the fine porcelain. However, Rosenthal »TAC Glitch« plays with the apparent imperfection: The slightly offset, delicate decor elements in green and gold give the porcelain classic »TAC« a skillful retro look with a simultaneous avant-garde touch. Noble elegance meets innovative creativity at Rosenthal »TAC Glitch«.

The collection »TAC Glitch« by Rosenthal includes plates, platters and bowls, cups for coffee, tea and espresso, a mug, milk jug and sugar bowl, as well as the famous »TAC« teapot in two different sizes.

The form »TAC« was designed in 1969 by Walter Gropius. »TAC« is one of the most internationally successful porcelain series. The reduced, geometric design language is typical of designs from the Bauhaus era. The design principles from this time have created a design that is just as current today as it was then.
