Seltmann Weiden Nori Home

Seltmann Weiden Nori »Home«

The collection name »Nori« is derived from the Japanese term »Nori« for edible seaweed. These types of algae are usually used in the form of dried, paper-like sheets for various recipes. Traditionally, Nori sheets are used to make sushi rolls, for example. The structure of these Nori sheets served as inspiration for the extraordinary relief of the porcelain »Nori«.

The flat relief in Seltmann Weiden Nori »Home« takes up this leaf structure and depicts it as an abstract, ornamental pattern in porcelain. The decor effect typical of »Nori« results solely from the depressions in the surface. They create a subtle play of light and shadow, giving Nori »Home« an unusual, almost mysterious appearance. This tension is further enhanced in Nori Home »White« by the alternation of full relief and partial relief: items like breakfast plates and soup plates are fully relieved, even on the eating surface. In contrast, for example, the pasta plate is only relieved at the rim. The dinner plate is available in two variants: one with full relief and one where the relief only adorns the flag, i.e., the rim.

Seltmann Weiden Nori »Home« is available in two color options: as a complete set in a very puristic White, and as a pure plate series Nori Home »Arctic Blue Light« in a light, chalky blue-gray with a hint of green. This blue-green short series allows for colorful accents on the white-covered table. Seltmann Weiden Nori »Home« is a very extraordinary porcelain for individualists who like to express their personal style and value a sophisticated, contemporary table culture.
