Rosenthal »Maria Weiß«
Few other porcelain forms have shaped the history of table culture as enduringly as the Rosenthal »Maria« form. This porcelain service was named after Maria, the wife of the company's founder, Philipp Rosenthal. The inspiration for this porcelain service came from a silver tea set from the early 19th century that Geheimrat Rosenthal brought back as a souvenir from a trip to England. In honor of Maria, the collection was named after her and later became THE classic in Rosenthal's history and in the history of table porcelain: Rosenthal »Maria«.
The distinctive silhouette of the coffee pot is globally renowned. Its elegant form is characterized by a polygon, a design element from classicism. Additionally, it incorporates classical and romantic influences. What's particularly characteristic of Rosenthal »Maria Weiß« is the delicate pomegranate relief that runs around, for instance, on the plate rim and the base of the cups. Shortly after its introduction to the market, the »Maria« collection became the most extensive series within the Rosenthal brand. Even today, there are over seventy different porcelain items available in Rosenthal »Maria Weiß«. This includes a wide selection of cups for coffee, hot chocolate, and tea, as well as various plate sizes. Impressive is the multitude and diversity of serving items, suitable for upscale dining. This includes platters, bowls, and dishes, as well as centerpieces like footed cake plates, a tiered serving stand, tureens, and sauce boats for elegantly set tables.
