This glass has the name of a popular wine-region and of a typical grape which is being grown there. It's in perfect harmony with the design, with Gewürztraminer.
Besides that this glass is very versatile and compatible with a lot of white grapes. Predominantly dry wines with a medium corpus and balanced acids
Advantages of the ball-shape: It shows the fruit in the wine and especially the fine and edgy mineral components which make for example many Sauvignon blancs that desirable. The balanced volume of its design concentrates the green, fresh aromas which remind you to grass, elder and gooseberry based upon nice soily and smoky bouquets.
White wines made in Switzerland which traditionally go through the biological degradation of acids are winning in this glass due to the emphasis on the soily component which gives the wine additional expression and length.
