In homage to the Riedel‘s family central European heritage in Austria and Bohemia, t he Horn decanter was inspired by a popular post horn, an emblem of the Austrian post. The horse-drawn carriages came to Europe and were utilized by distributing post in different cities in the 18th and 19th centuries. By their arrival the postmen play the horns to pay attention. Popular contemporary musicians, like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, used a horn in their music. The Austrian composer was born in 1756, in the same year when the firm Riedel was founded. Oenophiles and musicians alike can make the horn sound again today by blowing into the decanter horn’s smaller opening.
